Spreading joy and sparking adventures in nature
Each gnome is created by needle felting high-quality wool. The art of needle felting uses notched needles which are specially designed to interlock the wool fibres during the sculpting process. This process, when done by hand, ensures that no two creations are alike!
Every gnome we create is completely unique both in story and appearance.
The raison d’être of Gnomes in Nature is simple: we’re here to spread joy, bring nature home to you, and help spark creativity as you imagine what the gnomes (and you) might get up to next!
Meet Heather (the felter)
Heather loves moving in nature on feet, wheels and skis. She often imagines the world of little animals, gnomes and fairies who may be hidden in the forest, enjoying cheese fondue just a few feet off the trail.
She began felting as a creative outlet and finds tremendous joy in putting smiles on faces with her gnomes.
When she’s not playing with wool or enjoying the outdoors, this veterinarian-turned-coach helps high achievers who are flirting with burnout (re)claim their energy and agency (more on that here: drheatherkennedy.ca), enjoys foraging and cooking, and cultivates a talent for living with happiness.
Meet Andrew (the CGAO)
As the Chief Gnome Accessory Officer, Andrew keeps the gnomes looking stylish and ready for adventure. His current specialty is wire glasses, and he looks forward to creating skis, climbing gear, and other items in the near future.
His role as the CGAO is perhaps the pinnacle of his engineering career to date.
When he’s not creating gear for wee gnomes, you’ll find Andrew exploring his Squamish backyard and beyond, covering impossibly long distances by foot, fine-tuning his latte skills, and wrenching on the adventure-mobile!
Meet Winnifred (CJO)
Winnie holds down the most important role at Gnomes in Nature with class, style, and a robust voice.
As Chief Joy Officer, she brings a smile to work every single day and makes sure everyone packs snacks. Lots of snacks. She also helps ensure that play breaks are frequent and nature trips are a daily occurrence.
She’s the key location scout for many of the gnome’s adventures but has to admit she gets a little bored when we stop for photos.
